On April 15, Mr. Qiu Sheng Yun, former Chinese Consul General in Houston and New York ; former Chinese Ambassador in Jordan , flew to Houston from Beijing . The visit of Ambassador Qiu Sheng Yun, vice chairman of USCF, aimed at publicizing “The Redwood Concert---A Celebration of Sino-US Friendship featuring soprano Julia Zhu” co-organized by USCF and Chinese Consulate in Houston; Ambassador Qiu Sheng Yun also attended other activities related to Houston International Festival during his visit. Ambassador Qiu Sheng Yun made great contribution to the communication, mutual trust and understanding between China and America during his tenure in Houston as Consul General; and made friends with many American and Chinese celebrities in the US.

On April 17, Julia Zhu, director of Artistic and Cultural Department of USCF flew to Houston with her well-designed album to prepare for her solo concert in Houston .

At 1:40 am, April 23, Liang Ning, world-famous mezzo-soprano arrived in Houston Bush International Airport . She flew to Houston from Frankfurt to join Julia Zhu, her student, at The Redwood Concert---A Celebration of Sino-US Friendship. 
Julia Zhu, Dai Tong De, Chief Representative of USCF Beijing Office, and Editor Chief from worldfame.com met Liang Ning at the airport. 

On the evening of April 24, Southern America News Group and USCF held a reception welcoming the arrival of Liang Ning at the studio of Southern America News Group. Liang Ning is vice director of Vocal Department of China Conservatory of Music, Julia Zhu’s vocal instructor for MA degree. Upon arriving in Houston , Liang Ning got attention from many musical enthusiasts. Most of 40 guests attending this reception were well-known singers in Houston and gained valuable practical singing skills from Liang Ning. After introducing the preparation work of this concert, Liang Ning, for first time, offered her expert opinions at the scene to each singer performing at this reception in terms of pronouncing, phasing and other singing skills. 

Dr. Kissinger, former US Secretary of State and an important figure in the history of Sino-US relationship, paid close attention to this concert and asked his assistant to make a call to the organizers of this concert: USCF, Chinese Consulate in Houston, the organizing committee of Houston International Festival and China Conservatory of Music and give Dr. Kissinger’s best wishes to this concert. Dr. Kissinger was visiting outside the US and he wished Julia Zhu’s solo concert a great success! 

On April 30, Julia Zhu’s solo concert was held successfully in University of Houston . Nearly 1000 guests including American and Chinese politicians, cultural and artistic celebrities and Chinese business leaders in the US attended this concert. After this concert, Larry Lee, president of USCF gave a banquet for all guests.
