News Letter of USCF for Aug.& Sep., 2006

The USCF is in the process of setting up The US – China Real Estate Investment Fund. The Fund will invest in 10 to 12 projects in the United States, China and Southeast Asia, which will all provide excellent opportunities for cooperation between China and the US. USCF Adviser for Finance and Investment Mr. William Harrison is in charge of this project.

USCF and its associates maintain frequent communication with partners in Houston with respect to the US - China Friendship Fund.

USCF has signed a formal agreement with Hainan Tourist Corporation of China to strengthen the relationship and cooperation between top executives from the US and China.

On August 22, President of USCF Larry Lee met with US Consulate General to Shanghai Mr. Kenneth Jarrett in Shanghai. Mr. Jarrett provided valuable advice on the future development of USCF. He expressed his appreciation for the annual USCF US – China Forum and invited USCF to hold this year’s forum in Shanghai.
Larry Lee, president of USCF,was on business trip in New York City and Houston and meets local members of USCF.

On September 7, a press conference of “APAIGE”--the program for choosing and training international opera talents was officially held in Beijing. The program was co-organized by USCF, China Conservatory and NYIOP International LLC. Larry Lee, president of USCF gave a detailed introduction and analysis to this program. He also answered questions from media at the press conference. Ms. Julia Zhu, supervisor of Artistic Department of USCF, postgraduate of China Conservatory hosted the press conference. Ms. Liang Ning, assistant director of Vocal Department of China Conservatory and artistic supervisor of this program delivered a speech at the press conference.

This program has many characteristics and advantages, compared with many other vocal training programs emerging in China: it is the first time in Chinese vocal history for many internationally well-known vocal companies to come to China to pick up vocal talents; this program can provide professional, systematic vocal training, but also provide a approach for the students of this program after their graduation to become singers of international opera companies and receive further education at the well known opera companies.

On September 14 US time, Larry Lee, president of USCF, and Kim Russell, president of Neuisys met with Dr. Liu Ji Ren, chairman of Neusoft Group in New York City during Dr. Liu’s stay in the States for attending the Forum of World Finance held in New York City. Both parties exchanged views and reached common grounds on many issues. Dr. Liu said that great support from Neusoft would be given to Neuisys.

The first audition and application for the 2006 “APAIGE” program for choosing and training international opera talents has come to an end. Many vocal students do not know too much about this program due to many conservatories in China started schooling late after summer vacation. We made efforts to arrange second audition for many vocal talents, who failed to participate the first audition, give them access to international vocal stages, further education. On September 19 US time, Hua Jin Zhou,Chinese Consul General to Houston and his wife Ms. Li Ji Ping, Chinese Cultural Consul to Houston had a dinner with Larry Lee, president of USCF, William Harrison, senior advisor of USCF, Leonard Chaikind senior advisor of USCF at a well-known restaurant in Houston. They had pleasant discussions during the meeting. Consul Hua explained the work of Chinese Consulate to Houston in detail and expressed his warm welcome to USCF for its branch office to be set up in Houston.

USCF Houston Office is scheduled to be establish officilly on the middle of November. We will be involved in the forthcomingInternational Festival at the City on the theme of China in the next April, and bring many very atractive shows and performances to the event, including US-China Forum; Splendid Fashion of China; Julia Solo Concert, Master Song Yuqui's Chinese Painting Show, etc.

On September 21 US time, Larry Lee, president of USCF, met Ms. Linda, special assistant in the office of former US President George Bush. They exchanged views on future work of USCF in Houston. Ms. Linda, asked by former US President George Bush, presented Larry Lee with a present with the signature of former US President George Bush on it.

On September 28, the first heat for the 2006 “APAIGE” program for choosing and training international opera talents, which was organized by USCF, was officially held at Youth Center in Haidian District, Beijing. Ms. Julia Zhu, supervisor of Artistic Department of USCF, acted as a jury of this program for the contestants in the audition. Larry Lee, president of USCF, supervised and instructed this activity on the scene. Many vocal teachers and students, opera singers and vocal enthusiasts at home and abroad reacted very actively to this event. Yao Hong, a well-known soprano in China, National singer took part in this audition as a contestant together with other contestants. Other contestants from National Conservatory, China Conservatory, Ukraine National Opera Theater and National Traditional University and other institutions participated in the audition.

As the Chinese National Day Holiday and Chinese Middle Autumn Festival approaches, Larry Lee, president of USCF, on behalf of all staff in USCF, sent presents of fresh flowers and moon cakes to our senior advisors, members of board of USCF and friends in Beijing, acknowledging their great support to USCF over the years.
